Safflower

Safflower

This warm season broadleaf has a deep taproot, which can break hard soil, enhancing water and air movement in the soil structure. It suits perfectly for cereal crop rotation, as it is successfully breaking many plant diseases.

Growing safflower may reduce pest pressure while attracting beneficial insects. It has a good grazing and forage potential, even though its’ spines can cause palatability issues when mature.

Safflower is also a very efficient nitrogen scavenger that supports mycorrhizal growth.
