Thorn Apple

Thorn Apple

Datura stramonium, known by the common names thorn apple, jimsonweed (jimson weed) or devil’s snare, is a plant species in the nightshade family and datura genus. Its likely origin was in Central America, and it has been introduced in many world regions. It is an aggressive invasive weed in temperate climates across the world.

Thorn apple is a sign of poor drainage of the soil. Water and air don’t move well, leading anaerobic bacteria to be dominant and making it difficult for beneficial microbes to thrive. The soil may have low organic matter content and it may lack Calcium and Potassium.
